                                        Thank you for your support.

The group was formed in March 2018 at Rotherwas. The first open meeting was held on International Women’s Day.  We wanted to bring together the many groups and individuals who were interested in the site's history, present use and future.

We are a not for profit, non political group and all of our trustees are volunteers.

The group's constitution is: "To bring together all those interested in the past, present and future of Rotherwas. To support projects that will promote a wider understanding of the Rotherwas area and its legacy"

So many people and groups have written, researched and promoted the history of Rotherwas and shouted loudly that a place which has played such a unique part in British history should be commemorated and the people who worked and lived there should be remembered.  We thank them and aim to continue their work.

Projects to 2025

EXPLORING ROTHERWAS - THEN AND NOW

We will be arranging free walks and open days to share the history of ROF Rotherwas and the people that worked there during both world wars and to create and develop a sense of pride in where we live. Our walk leaders will show and explain why the site was built and the changes of the past century.  We’ll be working with schools, colleges, clubs and social groups across the county.

We’ll be hosting organised search days to help people discover their family links to Rotherwas and how they can find out more about the history of where they live and work.

We’ll be working with professionals, volunteers and staff at the Herefordshire Archive and Record Service to create and maintain a Roll of Honour for all munitions workers from Rotherwas and other ROF sites across the country.

This project has been made possible thanks to the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

ROTHERWAS ANGEL SCULPTURE

Thanks to the generosity of Hereford City Council and Hereford College of Arts, the Rotherwas Angel sculpture has been donated to us. Thanks to a grant from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, we are now applying for permission to put it on permanent display at Rotherwas where it will be a memorial to all the people who worked at ROF Rotherwas. In the winter of 2023, we’ll be hosting events to share the plans and we hope to see the sculpture in place by the spring of 2024.

We’re passionate about the past, present and future of Rotherwas. We’d love to hear from you if you have information, you’re looking for information or you’d like to volunteer for one of our projects.
