Information for New Applicants April 2026 – March 2027
Thank you for your interest in joining The Penylan Bowling and Cardiff Bridge Club. We offer a varied Sports & Social environment at The Penylan Club.
All New Applicants
Applicants must apply to The Membership Secretary on a form (obtainable at the club bar or by email) or click on the JOIN/RENEW button. Applications will be acknowledged when received by the Membership Secretary: Sonia Liggett (memsec@cardiffbridgeclub.org) or by a Member of the Bowls Committee. Applications may be followed up initially if more information (eg background matters or access needs is required).
Applications must include the names of a proposer and a seconder who must be current members.
All applications will be considered by the appropriate Section Representative/Committee. The Membership Secretary will advise the applicant of the outcome by email or letter.
The date of the approval email or letter will be deemed the date membership commences. The email or letter will include details of how to pay the subscription due, and the subscription must be paid within 14 days of the date of the email or letter or the membership may be declared void. Please do not pay until your application has been accepted
Forms may be emailed to memsec@cardiffbridgeclub.org , passed to Bar Staff or given to Bridge session TDs for the attention of the Membership Secretary.
Please note there must be AT LEAST 48 hrs between an application and approval. All applications will be dealt with as quickly as possible.
Memberships
Associate Members may use the club bar and garden and take part in social activities. They may book rooms in the club for functions. Associate Members have no voting rights and may not take part in bridge or bowls.
The Following memberships have rights and privileges in addition to those of Associate members.
Social Members (restricted) The number of Social Members is limited to 45 and are members who have shown a commitment to the Club over several years. Social Members have Voting Rights.
Bowling Section
Members of the Bowling Section are permitted use of the Bowling Green at all times other than when there are Club and/or County games being played. Any exceptions are communicated on the Bowls Notice Board. Bowling Section Members have Voting Rights.
Bridge Section
Members of the Bridge Section are permitted to attend and play in Club Bridge Sessions and Events on payment of the appropriate Table Money. Bridge Section Members have Voting Rights.
Cardiff Bridge Club (CBC) is affiliated to the Welsh Bridge Union (WBU) and Bridge Section members are required to be members of the Welsh Bridge Union. As a member of CBC £20 of your annual subscription is sent directly to the WBU. If you are a new member we can obtain a WBU number for you. If you are already a member of another club and have a WBU number or if you have joined WBU direct you do not have to pay again through CBC.
