Here at Oxford Kilns we have created a multi-purpose wood-firing kilns site as a centre where we support the learning and exchanging of wood-firing skills whilst also operating as a research site looking at questions on sustainability, creativity and craft and historic practice.
On site we have facilities for pit-firing and anagama-style wood-firing in three different types of kiln. We work with potters and kiln builders globally, including in particular France and Japan. Academically we have collaborators in anthropology, archaeology, fine art and material science.
We are a self-funding organisation and are intensely grateful to the invaluable support of our members.
