There is a new online booking system, and we have introduced a number of other measures to make sure that members feel safe when using the workshops. You can download and read our full COVID-19 Risk Assessment on our policies page. We are currently accepting new members, so if you are interested in joining please read the below info and email kate@wypw.org to arrange your induction session.

Welcome to West Yorkshire Print Workshop! We are a friendly community of artists and printmakers. Our studios are light, bright and fully equipped for paper and textile screen printing, etching and other intaglio processes such as photo-etching and photopolymer gravure, relief printing processes such as linocut and woodcut, photo-plate and plywood lithography, monoprint, collagraph and letterpress. Anyone can become a member, (even if you don't need to print here - there are tons of other benefits), and we offer a welcoming creative space for all skill levels.

New to Printmaking?

We advise that you attend one of our day or weekend print courses before joining. (Sign up for membership within one month of attending a course and get a £5 discount!)

Experienced Printmaker?

If you have some recent experience of printmaking and have a good working knowledge of the technique you want to practice, you can sign up for membership today. You'll need to tell us a bit about your experience when you fill in the membership signup form.

Not Sure?

If you're not sure about the best route to take, please give us a call and we'll be happy to advise. It may be that you need to update your skills or build your confidence by attending a course or some bespoke tuition before using the studios, or you may just want to make sure you book your first few sessions on a day when our technician is around. Going it alone in the print rooms for the first time can be a big step and we're here to make sure members feel welcome and supported.

Studio Inductions

Once you have signed up for membership online, you will need to get in touch with our technician to arrange your induction session. Either give us a call on 01924 497646 or email kate@wypw.org. Inductions are supported sessions in a particular technique which last 2-3 hours and cover health and safety, workshop orientation and guidance on safe working practice. An induction fee of £15 is payable on the day, which covers the first hour of your session, and any subsequent hours are charged at the standard hourly rate of £3.30. Inductions are available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays only. If you are a renewing member and have not used the workshops for over a year, you will need a refresher induction, the fee for which is £7.50.

Please be aware that inductions are not teaching, and it is expected that members will already have a good working knowledge of the process they wish to use. If you do not have experience of printmaking but would like to learn, we would advise signing up to one of our printmaking courses first.

Hourly fee

In addition to the annual membership and induction fees, the hourly workshop charge is £3.30/hr.  This is payable on a pay-as-you-go basis, rounded up to half hours.

What your hourly fee includes

Use of all workshop equipment, etching chemicals, developers for photo-processes, etc. Black ink for etching and relief printing is also included.

What your hourly fee does not include

Storage – if you would like to store materials, screens, etc, at the workshop, there is additional annual charge of £20.

Screen coatings – if you would like to use our screens there is a charge of £1.55 per screen per day, plus any additional coatings at 55p. There is a charge of £1.10 per screen for members coating their own screens.

Paper, inks, print medium, metal plates, masking tape and other sundries. These can be bought from our shop.
