The Woolhope NATURALISTS’ FIELD Club Today
The ‘Woolhope Club’ is a society for everyone who is interested in exploring geology, natural sciences. archaeology and history, particularly relating to Herefordshire and the surrounding areas. We build on a heritage of unbroken enquiry since the Club’s foundation in 1851.
With the support of over 650 members and many expert contributors, we promote practical study and original research. The Club’s publications, and especially the annual Transactions, have made high-quality, original papers and reports available to all since the Club’s earliest days. Our huge collection of books, journals, maps, and documents is held in the Club’s library, usually located in the Woolhope Room in Hereford’s Museum and Art Gallery building - temporarily the collections are stored elsewhere whilst the building is restored. A large-scale archive of the Club’s publications, dating from the mid-19th century until today, can be accessed via the search facilities on our website https://www.woolhopeclub.org.uk/ Our aim is to promote and share, as widely as possible, understanding and new knowledge about Herefordshire and its precious heritage.
