The Telecommunications Heritage Group (THG) is a club or society, not a trading organisation, and we cater for researchers, collectors, historians, operators of restored apparatus and all people just interested in the subject for its own delight.
Interests covered by the Telecommunications Heritage Group include old telephones, telegraphs, phone kiosks and other hardware. The complete heritage of telecommunications - civil, military, transport, public, private, ancient and modern, British and foreign - is studied across the membership. A number of members offer help on particular subjects such as kiosk restoration and railway telecommunications. Some enthusiasts own restored vehicles or telephone kiosks, whilst others are responsible for running complete multi-exchange telephone systems on preserved railways, using vintage telephone equipment.
Members receive four high-quality journals a year, access to 'swapmeets' and other events, a members-only email/web discussion group, a members-only Online Virtual Swapmeet and access to a unique online resource of telecommunications documents.
THG has no employees and no assets. It is entiely run by volunteers. We hope that all members become involved in the group (which has around 450 members from all over the world). You do not have to have any technical knowledge and you do not have to have a background in telecoms to be a member.
Membership rates are shown on this screen. The higher rates for those overseas covers the additional cost of posting our quarterly journal. An 'Online-only' subscription level is available only for those members not living in the UK and offers everything except the printed journal (which is available online for all members in a digital format). UK members are not offered this rate as our low subscription rates ensure that we can continue to produce a high quality printed journal.
