Taunton Thespians have been providing live theatre for and by the people of Taunton and surrounding area since 1927. The Thespians’ home is ‘The Place’ in Wilfred Road, Taunton. Every year we provide entertainment for thousands of people through our involvement in drama festivals, our main-house productions in local theatres and our acclaimed Summer Tours.
Main-House Productions: We stage two main-house productions, in Spring and Autumn every year, at the Brewhouse Theatre Taunton.
Annual Summer Tour: For two weeks every summer we load up the van and hit the road with cast, crew and set and perform at ten delightful outdoor venues throughout our glorious county of Somerset.
There is always a welcome to new members to build sets, work with props, make costumes, act, stage manage, twiddle the lighting and sound knobs, hand out flyers or make tea!
Taunton Thespians Mummers: We perform a traditional colourfully costumed Mummers entertainment complete with brave knights, mysterious princesses and a dragon
Taunton Thespians Murder Squad: We provide Murder Mystery evenings for parties, village halls and fund-raising events around the area.
Taunton Thespians Outreach: We like to share our enthusiasm for drama, poetry and story telling and so we frequently pop up in a variety of places such as residential homes to give readings of poetry and plays.
Taunton Thespians At Play: In between productions we like to let our hair (or theatrical wigs) down occasionally and have some ‘play’ time. Whether it be the annual treasure hunt (involving cars, pubs etc.), seasonal gatherings (Christmas, Burns Night… you get the drift) or trips to the theatre and arts events, we are always up to something!
