The Sussex Steam Engine Club was created in 1993 by a small group of locally based enthusiasts. Their belief that engine owners, operators and supporters would welcome the opportunity to promote their interest, in steam preservation, has been fully rewarded by a flourishing club. Whatever your interest in steam you can always be assured of a warm welcome.
Our members come from all walks of life and are not restricted to Sussex alone. We are proud to include subscribers from many parts of the UK as well as further afield.
Members receive four copies of the club magazine “Steam News” each year and are invited to join the club meetings. These are held on the second Friday of the month between October and April, unless otherwise stated in the Steam News. The meetings include talks and videos on a range of steam and preservation topics, they also provide a great opportunity for members to catch up. In addition to the meetings the club also organizes a road run in late September.
Our members support many events across the country with their engines and other exhibits, driving them on the road wherever possible. They can frequently be seen providing power for fairground equipment, saw benches, threshing machines and giving ploughing or steam rolling demonstrations.
To join the club please complete the online process or complete the form and return it to the Membership Secretary, or the Club Stand, with your cheque attached. Card payments are now also accepted.
All memberships are due for renewal in October. Therefore, anyone that joins after April will have their subscription extended to October the following year. This does NOT apply for renewals. (i.e. join June 2020 and your membership runs until October 2021).
If you would like to find out more about the club before joining please talk to one of our members, see the club web site or contact the membership secretary.
