Our membership year runs from 1 January to 31 December. This means your first year membership fee will be a pro-rata payment based on your month of joining.

We offer three types of membership:-

• Full Single Membership - This entitles you to full membership of the SMYC, including access to the SYC clubhouse, bar & restaurant members discount and access to SYC training and events. The annual membership fee for 2026 is £283.
   
• Full Joint Membership - This entitles you and a partner/spouse (and any children under the age of 18) to full membership of the SMYC, including access to the SYC clubhouse, bar & restaurant members discount and access to SYC training and events. The annual membership fee for 2026 is £406.
   
• Basic Membership - The basic membership does not allow access to the SYC clubhouse, nor the bar & restaurant members discount and you will not have access to SYC training and events. However, you may apply for the Blue Ensign Warrant with this membership level. The annual membership fee for 2026 is £100.

Once your membership application has been successful (for any level of membership), you will be entitled to apply to the club for a permit to fly the blue ensign. The cost of the permit is £100/yr, or £250 for three years. This payment is in addition to the club membership fee and only applies should you wish to wear the Blue Ensign. Holders of the Undefaced Blue Ensign permit must always be aboard or in Command when wearing the Ensign.
