Why Join the Stockport Clarion Cycling Club?

We organise rides and events for enthusiastic cyclists.

Here are some of the benefits of joining the Stockport Clarion Cycling Club:

  • Regular Sunday club runs; Usually 50 to 70 miles at 16-18 average.
  • Regular Wednesday night MTB rides.
  • Meet, ride & socialise with like-minded people.
  • Improve your cycling by joining other enthusiasts and share free advice from their (and your) collective experience.
  • Enjoy your cycling more, in a group environment and widen your cycling horizons.
  • We also run and participate in local 10 miletime trials on a Monday night (May to August)

And as part of the National Clarion you will get access to:

Where and when we meet for rides:

We regular meet up at the Rising Sun in Hazel Grove every week at 09.30 for club rides. Distances of our rides tend to be 50-70 but oncea month we try to do 100 miles flat or 80 hilly miles but we do adjust these depending on the riders and weather conditions.

We also meet up every Wednesday evening for a mtb. We set off at 19.15 from the car park opposite the Arden Arms in Stockport. The ride is usually about 2.5 - 3 hours.

The club has a wealth of experience and always makes sure that our new riders are looked after on their first few rides. We pride ourselves in riding in a disciplined and safe manner and respect our fellow road users. For example we acknowledge cars that wait and pass us safely, we single file when safe and appropriate to do so. We also slow down for horses and chat to them as we pass, so that we don’t startle them.
