The Southern Ceramic Group was started in 1975 by a small group of enthusiastic potters. Their aim was to enable potters and sculptors normally working alone to meet other like-minded people and share ideas and techniques. The idea worked so well that the Southern Ceramic Group now has around 250 members from Hampshire and the surrounding counties. Our members are potters, sculptors, professional and amateurs, teachers and students, collectors and enthusiasts.
The Southern Ceramic Group consists of over 250 enthusiastic ceramicists who live and work in the south of England and share a passion for creating in clay. The members are as diverse as the objects they create. Some have spent a lifetime perfecting their craft while others have come to it only recently, after careers ranging from engineering to medicine to dance and teaching. What they all share is intense creativity.
