Welcome to Montrose Air Station Museum

Britain's first operational military air station was established in Montrose by the Royal Flying Corps in 1913. The museum's collection of photographs and artefacts tell the story of RFC/RAF Montrose and the men and women who served here through two world wars. The museum is developing into a museum of the Royal Air Force in Scotland. 

The award-winning and accredited museum  is run entirely by volunteers and was proud to receive The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service in 2014.  It has been awarded a TripAdvisor Travellers Choice Award for 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022. 2023, 2024 and 2025. It has been consistently shown as the No.1 visitor attraction in Montrose and highly rated in Angus.
