In June of 1981 a group of like-minded individuals realised a need in The UK’s Lake District National Park for a club to cater for the growing interest in historic vehicles. Hence the Lakeland Historic Car Club was formed to encourage the preservation and use of historic vehicles older than 25 years.
The club has now expanded to include car runs into Yorkshire and North Lancashire. Throughout the year the club hosts approximately 60 events during all the seasons. This includes, picnic and lunch drives, museum visits and car shows, and winter Sunday lunches along with two Christmas events. Members receive 6 x bi-monthly newsletters including specific details of events for the next two months.
The LHCC allows members to join without having current ownership of a classic car so they may enjoy the activities of the club. The club has a membership of over 300 members
The club is a Limited Company and run by Club Officers who are elected by the membership to the Council of Management. The club is also a Member of the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs (FBHVC).
