Founded in 1874, the LRC has provided members with the facilities for recreational use of the River Ouse since Victorian times.
We are a small boating club with members who sail, motor, canoe or row on the river - or out to sea!
The LRC is located next to the River Ouse at the south eastern end of the town.

You can apply for membership at the LRC using this website. When your membership application is approved by the management committee, your monthly Direct Debit payment will be handled by GoCardless. There is a joining fee of £100 (Juniors £50) payable separately by bank transfer. Note that any additional berthing or storage charges agreed with the management committee are not included in your membership fee monthly direct debit, they must be settled separately by bank transfer as a single payment for a whole 12-months membership year.
If you are an existing member, please login with your email address to keep your membership details up to date. Here you can also access essential members-only practical club information (please use the menu).

The main membership fee is paid monthly by direct debit via GoCardless. Bank transfers (see bank account details below) are only for the payment of the one-off joining fee, and for any additional berthing/storage charge (as agreed by the management committee).
A 50% discount on the main membership fee as well as on any additional berthing/storage charge is available to younger members below the age of 25 years old, and had previously been granted by the management committee to members over 65 years of age and with a minimum of 10 years membership (this was then called a "concession").
There is a one-off joining fee for new members of £100 (50% discount £50 available to new Junior members under the age of 25)
The old membership system required payment of fees in a single lump for the entire membership year ahead, which conventionally started on the 15th May for all members regardless of their respective joining date. There was even a time when members used to pay in person by cheques handed over to the treasurer at the AGM (Annual General Meeting).
In the modernised system, membership is paid for monthly by direct debit and renewed indefinitely until members request the termination of their membership. Note that there is an initial 12 month commitment for all new members. The primary purpose of monthly membership is to help spread the total cost of membership, not to flexibly pause and resume membership time periods. Ex-members will need to re-apply should they wish to rejoin after termination of their membership.
For convenience, here is a breakdown of the total cost of membership over a 12 months period:
Additional berthing/storage charge (as agreed by the managment committee):
