Since setting up in March 2020, our community group of volunteers has grown from 5 people to nearly 30. Our Facebook group, which we started in 2020, now has more than 4000 members. People love our native red squirrels and they want to see photos, learn more about them and hopefully see them in person!
They also want to help them as our native reds face many challenges and are classed as an endangered species, mostly due to the squirrel pox virus passed on by the non-native grey squirrels, almost always fatal to our reds.
We know we have many supporters of Cumbrian red squirrels and of our work protecting them. This annual membership scheme will enable us to connect with, and inform, those supporters. We will issue a Newsletter to members at least twice per calendar year and hopefully other occasional updates that we think may be of interest.
Importantly, at £15 for 12 months of membership, the scheme will help with the funding of our work. As our team has grown, we've been able to protect reds in more locations, but this comes with greatly increased operational costs.
Please see our website for more information about red squirrels and about our work. Clicking on our Logo at the top left of this page will take you there.
Thank you for your interest in our membership and we hope to be in contact with you soon!
