Welcome to Hereford Diocesan Guild of Bellringers

We are a registered charity (No. 1105766) working with church bellringers throughout the large Diocese of Hereford.

Thank you to the huge majority of members who registered on the site during 2025.  Renewals for 2026 are now live.

EXISTING MEMBERS - please confirm your renewal for 2026, subscriptions can now be paid online or you can continue to pay via your District Treasurer as you always have done.  

PLEASE ANSWER QUESTIONS WITH DETAILS THAT ARE CORRECT ON THE DAY OF COMPLETION , IF SOMETHING CHANGES AT YOUR AGM OR YOU COMPLETE TRAINING ETC. YOU CAN LOG BACK IN TO AMEND THE INFORMATION AT ANY TIME.

If you are already a bellringer, or if you would like to learn to ring we would love you to join us.  

Ringing Member - to join the Guild as a Ringing Member you will need to be elected at a meeting, as well as completing the online application form.  

Associate Member - If you are not a trained bellringer but would like to join as an Associate Member to support the work of the Guild please complete the form and the Guild Secretary will contact you to arrange your election at a meeting.

Non-Resident Life Member - If you are a ringer living outside of the Diocese of Hereford please email pealrecorder@hdgb.org about your membership application.

Why join the HDGB?

  • All members have access to the Annual Report which gives members a full list of tower contacts throughout the Diocese, as well as information regarding regular practice nights
  • Access to many Guild and District level ringing events such as practices, outings, and training sessions.
  • You will make lasting friendships with people from all over the Guild
  • You will meet talented and knowledgeable people who will be able to help you make the most of your ringing experience.
  • You will have a sense of belonging to a group of like-minded people and be able to help preserve part of our heritage.
  • Members are entitled to attend, speak, and vote at the Annual General Meeting, which is usually held in May.
  • Members are entitled to attend, speak & vote at the Hereford Diocesan Guild of Bellringers Bell Restoration Fund AGM(this a separate charity  No. 508531).
  • You can get support from the Guild/ District Officers in: Recruitment; Safeguarding; Open Days; Teaching/Training; Achieving personal goals; Bell Restoration projects and Maintenance.
  • Members receive recognition for Long Service and Achievements
  • Support & advice on Tower Stewardship matters
  • Access to the Guild Archive and reports, including peal books.
  • The Guild is affiliated to the Central Council of Church Bellringers, members’ views can be communicated to our Central Council representatives.
  • Members are covered by a limited Personal Accident Insurance at all times, and Public Liability insurance at Guild and District events.
  • Loan of Guild property (including handbells)
