Hambledon Cricket Club, Surrey

Hambledon Cricket Club is a friendly community club based in the idyllic village of Hambledon in the Surrey Hills, which runs two Seniors sides (Saturday league and Sunday friendlies) and full training and matches for Juniors.

The club will be competing in division 3 of the I’Anson cricket league for the 2026 season, having been promoted up from division 4 at the end of 2025.  We are always on the lookout for anybody interested in playing cricket in a friendly and welcoming local club. Please feel free to reach out to Ollie or Chase if you are interested who are always more than happy to chat or meet down the local pub!

Our Friendly XI play mainly on Sundays against local village clubs and traditional touring sides. We aim to play competitively but always in the spirit of Sunday friendlies. This year we have 22 fixtures on the card, from early May to the end of September, including three midweek T20 games. We have a small core of regular players with the balance of teams made up of those who wish to play as and when they can. We are actively looking to recruit more regular players and would welcome the opportunity to provide a new home to a small group. Please contact Woody for further information.

We have a long-established juniors section for players of all standards aged 6 to 14+. Training is usually on Saturday mornings or (for older players) Friday evenings and there are various age group teams which play in the local Surrey league. As younger players develop they are welcomed to into the senior section with the opportunity to play in friendly matches with the more senior players ensuring their safety and controlled development. Those with real talent may quickly progress to the senior squad. We are also running a Youth/Teenage XI among our friendly fixtures against clubs with a similar ethos, so that young players enjoy their own team. We abide by the ECB ‘Clubmark’ rulings for the welfare of all young people.

We are very much a community club with the beautiful cricket green and pavilion at the heart of the village. We welcome new players of any age or standard in addition to anyone who may be interested in training, umpiring, groundsman duties or otherwise joining in or watching from the boundary. Throughout the year there are barbeques, social opportunities and even a game against the village shop, which invariably concludes with a trip to the village pub. In addition on Wednesday evenings we will be running open nets and holding short-form fixtures with the BBQ running - so watch this space!
