The Leaky Homes Roadshow 2024

We have moved!  Our new website is www.earr.co.uk

To request a home energy survey - click here.

Who are we?

Energy Action Redhill and Reigate Ltd is a community benefit society (registration no. 8803) set up by residents who met through the Climate Action Redhill and Reigate group.  We recognised there is huge potential in our local buildings to be more energy efficient and to increase the use of renewable energy so we established a separate organisation to focus on energy.  Our aim is to improve the sustainability of buildings across East Surrey.

What is the Leaky Homes Roadshow?

Trained Energy Champions from Energy Action Redhill and Reigate are conducting individual energy efficiency surveys of local homes. Each home taking part in the Roadshow will receive:

  • Thermal images of your home - showing where heat is leaking

  • Tailor-made advice and a written report about ways you can improve the energy efficiency and comfort of your home and potentially save on bills

  • A tailored smart pack of energy efficiency materials to help with minor improvements

  • Where suitable, we will signpost you to current funding schemes to help with larger energy efficiency measures

How much does it cost?

The survey is free of charge to all eligible households.  This is thanks to funding from the Local Energy Advice Demonstrator project run by Surrey County Council in partnership with the Greater South East Energy Hub.  We have also been funded by UK Power Networks in order to provide energy efficiency materials.

However, in order to reach as many households as possible, we are asking people who can afford it to make a donation of £25.  This donation is entirely voluntary and will be recycled back into the project to enable us to deliver more surveys.

How do I take part?

For the 2024 Roadshow, we have moved new registrations to a different platform.  Please use the form available here.

We will ask for some background information about your home and your energy use.  It would be helpful if you have your energy bills to hand and if you know the EPC rating of your home.  (Check here if you are not sure: www.gov.uk/find-energy-certificate).  However, if you are unable to find this information, you can leave these questions blank and we will follow up on the survey).

We will get in touch to arrange a suitable date and time and to confirm the names of the two Energy Champions who will attend.  (Please note that we conduct most surveys in the evening in order for the thermal imaging to work.  We can attend during the day if necessary, but thermal imaging will not be possible.)

It would be really helpful if we could survey a few houses in a small area in one evening.  Why not contact your neighbours to see if they are interested?  As the project progresses we may also propose certain dates for certain areas.

The survey will take around 45 minutes to one hour.  We will provide some advice on the night and aim to follow up with your written report within two weeks of the survey.

Recruiting Energy Champions

Would you like to join the Energy Action Redhill and Reigate team, helping people to heat their homes efficiently this winter?

Energy Action Redhill and Reigate (EARR) is a not-for-profit community energy company that is creating a local network of Energy Champions to conduct home energy surveys, offer suggestions for reducing costs and staying warm, and deliver materials for immediate benefits.

We are looking for great people to help deliver this on a paid or voluntary basis.

If you are practical, caring, passionate about energy, and have one or two evenings a week to spare from January to March 2024 then you could be just who we are looking for.  Training is provided and Energy Champions work in pairs to deliver surveys.

Please see our website for more information or contact info@earr.co.uk
