DIY Space For London is a co-operatively run social centre located in South London, just off Old Kent Road.
During the day we offer low cost creative facilities, meeting rooms and social space, and in the evening we offer space for screenings, talks and performances. Currently host to Custom Digital Embroidery 1831Shop (normally open Thursday-Sunday 12-7pm). We run on a members club model so that everyone has an equal say in how the space is run.
DIY Space works to promote the ideas of mutual aid (helping each other) and co-operation (working together). Providing a welcoming space for everyone, including those whose voices and contributions are not always heard or appreciated, is a top priority for us.
In order to attend licensed events at the space, or use the bar or put on an event, you need to be a member of the club.
Members can bring guests along with them. Being a member means you can be as involved as you like in how the space works and vote on important developments.
Joining costs £2.00 (plus 30p if you're paying online to cover fees), lasts for a year, and you can pay with PayPal, bank transfer or in cash (when you pick up your card). Membership takes 48 hours to take effect and you will receive a membership card the first time you visit the space. Please note that you must be 18 years and over to be a club member; people under 18 can come to the space but must be accompanied by a cardholder.
Every member of DSFL must agree to our accountability agreement which is outlined below. Our website has a full rundown.
