Burrator Fly Fishers Association is a group dedicated to encouraging the practice of fly fishing at Burrator Reservoir and elsewhere.
Membership of the Burrator Fly Fishers is open to anyone who is genuinely interested in fly fishing. It doesn't matter if you are male or female, old or young, a beginner or an expert. All are welcome. The annual subscription is £20.00 per year.
To facilitate and encourage the practice of fly fishing at Burrator Reservoir and elsewhere with due regard to the environment.
To foster the interest of adult and junior anglers wishing to develop their fly fishing skills and to improve their sport.
To liaise and co-operate with South West Lakes Trust and work with them to improve fishing and facilities at Burrator Reservoir.
To enable social contact between members who share an interest in fly fishing.
At the club we take part in various social activities and events as well as fly fishing. We have regular working parties to help maintain the waters we fish at which are great fun. We have an annual christmas dinner and we also have various barbeques and social events that friends and family are invited to also.
Burrator fishes well from the bank however using a boat adds an extra dimension to the sport. Boats are available to hire by members of Burrator Fly Fishers Association only. They are very resonably priced and an evenings boat hire can cost as little as £5. Members are able to reserve the boats by using the online booking tool which can be accessed by clicking on the picture of our boats.
The club has a fly tying group which meets every 3rd Tuesday of the month at the Burrator Reservoir Discovery Centre. It meets at 7:00 pm for about 2 hours. At each meeting the group usually tie 2 flies relative to the current season .
This additional group is included in the cost of the annual subscription however you can if you wish just join the fly tying group at the same membership rate.
Our Association meets all year on the second Monday evening of the month at the Discovery Centre at Burrator Reservoir. We usually gather at about 6:30pm for a 7:00pm start. In August we have an "Open" meeting which is open to anyone with an interest in fly fishing at Burrator. The meetings include various talks from recognised fly fishers, demonstrations, fun events and social activity. We have two competitions per month. One is always at Burrator Reservoir and the second is at different local waters.
