BNHS and Bedfordshire Bird Club Membership

The Bedfordshire Natural History Society (BNHS) promotes the study of all branches of natural history. We are here to help, encourage and support those with an interest in wildlife, and we record the occurrence and distribution of the fauna and flora of the county. The society has an excellent record of publications which are based on the extensive fieldwork undertaken by our county Recorders, supported by the general membership.

The Bedfordshire Bird Club (Bird Club) was founded in 1992 by birdwatchers, to cater for their needs, and is the ornithological section of the BNHS. It records and documents the avifauna within the county and provides a forum for local birdwatchers.

Membership is open to everyone, whether resident in the county or not. The society depends on annual subscriptions which are devoted to carrying out its work, as all officers are Honorary.

• The price for 'Individual Membership' or 'Household Membership' is the same for either BNHS or Bird Club.
   
• For just £6 more you can join both! Just select the relevant option that has the prefix BNHS+Bird Club 
   
• Household Membership is for two or more members at the same address.

BNHS membership

Members enjoy a spring and summer programme of field meetings to sites having a natural history interest within the county, and occasional meetings further afield. Between October to March there are illustrated talks, which are either held at Maulden Village Hall or on Zoom. Workshops and conferences may also be held, giving opportunities to learn more about identifying and recording various species.

BNHS members receive the annual journal the Bedfordshire Naturalist and a quarterly newsletter Wild about Beds.
 

Bedfordshire Bird Club membership

Join the Bedfordshire Bird Club to connect with a vibrant community of bird enthusiasts, enjoy exclusive publications like The Bird Report, and participate in meetings, surveys, and field trips that celebrate and document the county’s avifauna.

Bird Club members receive the Bedfordshire Bird Report.

Joint BNHS and Bird Club membership

Members receive both the Bedfordshire Naturalist, and the Bedfordshire Bird Report, free access to both the BNHS and the Bird Club's meetings programme and the Wild About Beds newsletter.

* Student members don’t receive the Bedfordshire Naturalist or Bedfordshire Bird Report;  Household members receive one copy of the relevant publication per household.
