If you are thinking of joining, one thing we can guarantee is a very warm welcome.
You may have an interest in sailing, to learn how to dinghy sail, power boating, kayaking or just becoming a social member, our friendly club will be the perfect venue for you.
We have an active sailing section, with our sailors meeting regularly at our waterside RYA Approved Training Centre on Oddicombe Beach where we either race, train or social sail. Our sailing sessions are all about enjoyment; experienced sailors and club instructors are always on hand to offer advice and guidance to any new member. We have a fleet of single and double handed dinghy’s which can all be hired for a small fee. Limited space for dinghy and kayak storage parking is available for any member who wants to sail or kayak with us regularly. Please email the club for further datails.
Why not learn to dinghy sail? RYA approved training courses are run throughout the season for both adults and juniors. Our junior section meet on Friday evenings during the summer months where they have the bay to themselves to hone their skills.
We meet and socialise at our top clubhouse in St Marychurch. This is a stone’s throw from the cliff railway which links us to Oddicombe Beach and our sailing waters. We are open most evenings and at weekends and hold a wide variety of social events. Many of our members are non-sailors who have joined BCSC purely for the friendly social atmosphere that the club offers.
If you would like to see what we get up to before joining please pop in for a chat. You will find alot of our members and flag officers in the top clubhouse most evenings who will be more than happy to give you information about our club. If the on-water and beach activities interest you, you will find us at our bottom clubhouse every Saturday afternoon during the sailing season. We also meet most Tuesday & Friday evenings from May. Our chief instructor Guy Hester is always on hand to discuss training and sailing opportunities.
New Memberships will run until 28th February 2022
Please note that we are experiencing a significant demand for some of our training courses, especially for juniors, and due to the continuing Covid restrictions we are not always able to meet that demand as soon as we’d like. In the circumstances if you are intending to join to learn to sail please contact us via email to discuss the options. If you wish to join now you would be very welcome and we can put you on our waiting lists. We are of course still welcoming experienced sailors and more social minded members and look forward to seeing you all when we can open fully.
